The registry contains set-up for components of low-level operating systems and the applications based on that platform. Registry is used by device drivers, the kernels, SAM, user interface, services and all the third party software.

The Windows Registry was first launched in the market with Windows 3.1 to store important configuration information for COM-based components.

Google Inc. has launched a new software package that allows you to see satellite images on your desktop.

Google Earth lets you search for locations anywhere on earth and display 3D aerial images of major cities and tourist attractions. The images generated are 3D – you can rotate the view to see different sides of an object. You can navigate using a mouse or the keyboard, and view selectable layers to display information about local features such as roads, terrain, schools or golf courses.

Images of 38 US cities can be viewed from “the ground up” allowing you to see 3D representations of buildings and terrain. Measurement functions include distances between two locations, perimeters, radius and area.

Search results can be saved, printed and emailed. Driving directions can be automatically generated and you can trace the route using the “Play” button located underneath the directions tab.

Google Earth is based on technology from Keyhole Corp., a digital mapping company acquired by Google in 2004. The database that drives Google Earth is based on images from satellite and airplane photographs. The database is said to be “multi-terabytes” in size.

Google Earth is available in several versions. The free version is for personal use. Google Earth Plus costs $20 and integrates data from your GPS device. Google Earth Pro costs $400 and is designed for businesses who need a research and collaboration tool. Finally, there is Google Earth Enterprise Solutions for on-site deployment of Google Earth.

The technology behind Google Earth is not new, and smaller companies such as GlobeXplorer LLC have been offering 3D aerial views for several years. Google has the marketing clout, however, to bring the technology to the consumer level and integrate it into its advertising programs.

Users can search for local businesses and receive a viewpoint of 10 search results within a specified area. Clicking on a business listing brings up its address, phone number and driving directions.

Microsoft Business Solutions Great Plains has I’d say end user integration tool – Great Plains Integration manager. Integration Manager itself uses OLE functionality to validate text or ODBC integration files data through Great Plains forms behind the scenes. This sounds very promising and powerful – however the realities place the restrictions. We heard a lot of complains about Integration Manager slowness and inability to integrate data to multiple companies automatically – without operator intervention. This is probably true if you do not have IM expertise in your company. However there are Microsoft Great Plains maestros who could make magic things happen

• Great Plains Macros. Continuum could deploy Great Plains Dynamics macros, recorded to switch companies. This fact is almost unknown and the reason is – you can not have these macros to be replayed in the Great Plains itself

• Integration Manager Before Integration Script. This script is often used by third party software vendors to run their data manipulation routines. The challenge for integration automation is to automate modal dialog login screens, originated from third party applications

• Customization Site License. In order to enable custom integration you need to have this license – which costs $750 for Great Plains Standard. Please be sure that you do not have to have Modifier with VBA if you outsource the development.

• Drawbacks – unfortunately nowadays practice of service packs has the drawback if you plan to deploy Continuum- each service pack has a tendency to modify fields names in the code and this is where Continuum gives up – because it uses object calls

• Outdated Technology? Well – maybe. But you have to have work done. Continuum does the job

• SQL Cursor approach. The other way would be using SQL cursors with either eConnect or MS SQL Stored procedures calls. This will certainly allow you to switch companies, but this requires programming.

When programming artificial intelligent systems to make decisions and or evaluate there are a number of theories that should be explored before choosing a specific path. Writing code is tedious and time consuming indeed and it is appropriate to do as much up front work as possible. First and foremost you need to decide on which model your AI system will take in its decision making process. If you intend to build a decision matrix system then you may wish to do a little philosophical discussion with yourself or your team. For instance think of ways in which mankind normally chooses things?

For instance in a beauty contest each woman would be given a numerical value on each event. Then after three to five events the woman with the highest score wins? In the Winter Olympics in 2006 each judge might have their own method of figuring things out and perhaps give consideration either objectively or subjectively to things such as technical work, creativity, uniqueness, performance and difficulty and come up with a score and thus use that to judge. All we see is a little card which says 9.8, 9.9 or a perfect “10″ you see?

Now then on these two evaluation processes you can see how you might design your program to do these things. In the event of Winter Olympics Ice Skating with many judges you might mimic this in your artificial intelligence program by simply running several slightly different programs of numerical evaluations (each one similar to a judge) and then average the scores for a total score. Using techniques of double or triple elimination you can better evaluate and remove much of the randomness of chance or luck and improve probability for coming up with not necessarily the absolute answer, but statistically speaking the best probable answer down to a point in which you can feel good that your AI computer system is fair, honest and in the end has chosen the best possible answer.

Now then when evaluating evaluation decision matrix artificial intelligent systems one must also realize that you are only limited by your creativity to pick the best system to evaluate. You might even write separate systems which uses all three of these systems or more and then average them together, thus getting closer to the unattainable best possible perfect choice. We are convinced that new generation of Windows servers plus the reliability of relatively inexpensive database platform, such as Microsoft SQL Server, enable large corporation to decrease the cost of hardware, database and ERM software, plus have good internal support by hiring Microsoft certified professionals, available on the market in your area. In this small article we’ll give you short review of what you should expect from Microsoft Business Solutions Great Plains, its implementation, customization, reporting, integration as well as web publishing and eCommerce or web ordering system for your existing customers.

• Hardware. Consultants should help you with Great Plains business logic change, which requires Great Plains Dexterity programming and specification writing skills.

• Integration. In the past we saw a lot of Great Plains Integration Manager usage, today the trend is to deploy SQL scripts and stored procedures, including eConnect and its extensions (such as automatic transaction posting)

• User Training. In the case of large publicly traded company, you should probably dedicate internal Great Plains support person, who will be trained by consultant and then will provide training for end users. In this case you will avoid having consultant train the same common interface feature multiple time to different groups of users.
