The VIP tournament was only made available to exclusive members who’d either been a paying member for 3 consecutive months leading up to the game, or had preregistered for a year-long membership. With a total field of over 7,000 people, only one person would be awarded a $12,000 prize package to play in the 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event. In the months leading up to the World Series of Poker, all of the internet sites are having a frenzy with poker online freerolls and satellites that feed their players into the WSOP. It is a goal of every novice and professional player of jeux de casino to participate in this month long series offering the juiciest poker tournaments and cash games of the whole year.

On SpadeClub I had my first chance of the year to win a seat into the main event. However far-fetched this was, one in over 7,000, it was still a chance. The online poker tournament had 10 minute blinds, but began with 5,000 chips. Within the first few hands, I called a blind’s bets on flop, turn and river, when I had top pair of kings (K, 10) and he ended up having a very weak king. The players were pretty bad and I decided I didn’t have to get too out of line to amass chips. After about 2 hours, I was back down to about the starting stack.

The blinds were 150/300. The table was not limping around very much. It was pretty standard that someone would raise in late position on almost every hand. I picked up pocket aces under the gun and decided I could afford to limp-in. If someone raised I would probably isolate against him with a re-raise, and if they limped, I could bet out most flops in early position, or fold if I feel uncomfortable. Sure enough, a middle to late position player raised it up to 1200. He had less than 2,000 behind and I decided to shove on him and put him all-in. He had KK. Perfect. Awesome. Flop. Not so awesome. J, K, J. I was crushed and down under 2k.
